Poetry Café
Poems from 4th & 5th grade students - 2007.
Leaf
The wind blew me from
my mother, my sisters & my brothers.
It blew me left & right.
Then, I stop on a lawn.
Where someone picks me up and throws me out.
Moon
The moon is like a white round ball
as it floats in the night time sky.
But when it is day it fades away
and then comes back another dark lonely night.
Buzz
There lives an odd bee named Buzz
Nobody knows what he does
He just walks around
On the grass and ground
What a sad odd bee that Buzz.
Seaweed
The seaweed twirls and spins
It dances in the waves
It leans to its neighbor to start a conga line
With fish and seahorses dancing around them
They dance and spin together
Snowflake
A snowflake glides through the air
twisting, twirling
jumping here, there and everywhere
like a white orchid petal
unhooked from its flower
floating gently to the earth.
Hummingbird
Hummingbird
Fast
Small
No sound
Hovers
Like
A
Helicopter
My Secret Place
The place I go
Has not a flake of snow
Not too hot
Not too cold
After some slight hesitation
I go there to use my imagination
From there I can see the birds’ migration
From there I can feel the grounds vibration.
Can you get to this place?
I think not so
For only I know where to go.
